Wonderful Alaska

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Alaska
Embarkation: Vancouver

We opted to fly into Seattle to avoid the International backup in Vancouver BC. Our 4 hour shuttle was very enjoyable, the bus driver pointed out all the sights along the way, the bus was clean and roomy. Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, boarding was welcoming and quick. Since we had no luggage to tug around (the shuttle fee included baggage handling to our cabin), we were able to have lunch with out the hassle.

The seas were smooth, the ship beautiful, room was more than we had expected, we were 2nd from the front with a great view from our window, I took some beautiful pictures from the window.

Shows were entertaining, comedian 'Sarge' was terrific, hope to see him again. He was not only funny, he sang beautifully and played the piano. Great entertainer and so personable. The captain was unquestionable the best, he manuvered our ship almost on top of the glacers.....and turned the ship so both sides enjoyed the sights. The entire cruise was very smooth waters. More The beauty in Alaska is undescribable.

My negative report is the coffee, European instant syrup unless you buy a coffee card to get brewed from the coffee bar. still add hot water. Less

Plaza 202 oceanview. Ample space, quiet except when side thrusters are being used.

Port and Shore Excursions

We took a tour off ship to Mendenhall Glacier, for $16 round trip. There is a elevator for those with walking issues and it takes you to the viewing and the visitors center. Golden access cards are honored there or your National Parks card.
We enjoyed halibut fish n chips on the wharf, pricy but good.

A beautiful quaint fishing village, short walk from the ship to explore the city. Weather was normal for Ketchikan, known for 364 days of rain. Our first day here it rained, the day coming back thru was beautiful and sunny. We loved Creek Street..

We walked to town, enjoyed nice sunny day. Took a city bus to all the stops to see as much of the town as possible. did our own walking tour. Very nice town. We tried the halibut fish n chips here..as before pricy but very good.

Not much to do here in Whitter, we booked the bus tour to Anchorage. A beautiful ride thru the country side as the driver pointed out sights and wildlife, exciting going thru the 2 1/2 mile one way tunnel.
