Freedom to the Eastern Caribbean
Drove to Fort Lauderdale on Friday and Stayed at Hampton Inn airport on 12th st. Have stayed there several times and found it very enjoyable and convient to the port. his is the first time I did not use their shuttle and park and cruise. I used Park n Go and it was the easiest way to the port I have had in five trips.
I arrived at the port at 1100 am and was able to Board immediately as a platinum member. My room was ready when I boarded. I went through usual lunch on the Lido deck.
Boat left late and the muster lasted longer than usual, still only thirty minutes. Weather was cloudy and rain into rain on Sat and Sunday. The rest o the trip the weather was great except for a few showers during the week.
First port was Grand Turk on Tuesday. used the day as a beach day. Good sun , if going to go into the water take water shoes as water is rocky and has many holes. Friend took scuba diving excursion and said it was truly great.
Second day was San Juan. Went looking More for Ole hat shop with my brother and found it. He bought great hat that was fitted for him there. Then shopped and sight see for a couple of hours in old San Juan. Received our first of many wrong instructions at San Juan. Everyone told to stay on ships time which was an hour behind. It was actually on the same time.
third Day was St Marteen . I have been there three times and still have not had a bad day. Shopped for about an hour or so and then went to the beach. No problem finding a good spot at reasonable price two beach chairs umbrella and six beers for twenty dollars . Had great day
Last day was St. Thomas shopped in morning and had excursion to Megan Island in the afternoon. Forgot it did rain in St Thomas but been there four times and rained each time. Beach was cloudy but no rain. Megan bay is really a beautiful spot and drive up is exciting and beautiful.
Left St Thomas for home on the two long sea days. Actually cut short as we were informed Sat that the ship would arrive in Port Everglades at 1230am and casino would close and you would pay taxes on drinks.
We did arrive at 1230 and waited until about 645 to depart the ship.
Early departure was easy after started and got off ship in fifteen minutes after we started.
This was my fifth trip on the Freedom and she surely needs her dry dock. Maintenance was taking place everywhere. They were painting areas and stairs were close the last three days. Pool in the front was closed for maintenance and the whirlpool and sauna in gym were continuously down. Spinning classes were offered and equipment was broken and instructor was late for the class. This was one you paid for and did not get value.
During trip items were put in fun times that bands would be in certain places and they were other places.
Did not attend any shows as I have seen them except for passenger performances
there were several bands on deck that were very good. Music Boardwalk which was crew members were one thee best ever. The show band also was great on deck.
The meals in the Posh were overall good as usual. Service was jut ok as members of party kept having to send items back.
Food on Lido was not very good this time as it was bland, ice cream was ok if you found the ones that were working.
The stateroom was great and the balcony in 8450 is bigger than the normal aft balcony and had plenty of room. Gladys our steward was great and always helpful. Less
