Sunny Times on the Summit
We are seasoned cruisers. This was our first cruise out of Cape Liberty. First time to Bermuda. It was a good experience. I would do it again. Fast boarding, efficient staff.
I was worried about the age and small size of the Summit (90,000 tons) as we usually choose larger ships. We were pleasantly surprised with many aspects of the cruise.
The GOOD: the Classic drink package 1-2-3 perk was excellent. The Thalassotherapy Pool was wonderful and warm. Usually ship pools are cool - even the ones on Celebrity Silhouette. if both are T. pools then I don't know why. Nice entertainment.. especially the illusionist and comedian. The Piano player and guitarist were also good and frequented the venues around the ship. Dining room had good food. We don't eat in the buffet so I can't comment. We have never been partial to cafeterias. The Captain was visible all around the ship. Not sure if that was because the ship was small so we saw him more or he is personable. Either way, it More was a nice thing. Shopping on board was also good for variety considering the size of the ship.
The BAD: The stateroom bathrooms show their age and are..... dirty. The grout was brown and the tiles were old and dirty. I wrote about it on the comment card but have read about it in this forum for some time now so really Celebrity is not worried about it. I'm sure a staffer sits and reads all these blogs. Too bad.
Also, the price of the internet access 75 cents per minute is simply crazy. In Bermuda loads of people bought internet packages on the land for the three days on the island... 3 dollars per hour, 10 dollars for 24 hours and 30 dollars for a month if one were staying so long. So Celebrity needs to look at this.
As for Bermuda, we loved it. The transportation system for three days, ferries and buses was 35 dollars P.P. Great! Went to the Crystal caves, Fantasy caves, Gibbs Lighthouse, Hamilton, St George's to the perfumery and Alexandria's Battery park (sea glass beach) and of course to the south shore beaches, Horseshoe in particular. King's wharf also had some interesting things to see and do.... a fort, a glass blowing shop etc.
Loved it. Loved it. Will return for sure. Less
