When we booked the 12 night Baltic cruise on the Brilliance, we understood that the ship had gone through a "revitalization". Most areas of the ship are the same they have been for many years (old paint showing rust on our balcony, large pulls in the Windjammer carpet, general old-look throughout). The only "updates" noted were increased specialty restaurants, more places to spend money on board.
The food in the dining room (dinners) was a bit boring and repetitive. We actually met a group in the Windjammer on the last formal night who were dressed to the nines....tuxes, gowns, etc. When we asked why they did not eat in the dining room, they stated that they liked the Windjammer food better!!!
I became much more aware during this cruise of all the many ways Royal uses to separate you from your money. The charges for a very SLOOOOOW wifi were ridiculous, a tube of toothpaste in the ship's store was $6.00, and the excursions were as over-priced as always.
