We booked this cruise last year because Russell Watson was performing and he was great. The entertainment was very good and the best we have had on a ship over the last few years. The ship is beautiful and our cabin was also one of the best we have had as it was extremely bright and roomy with a large and comfortable bed. The shower was quite small in size but was powerful. No complaints about the cabin whatsoever. And though it was an inside, it didn't matter as we spent so little time in there anyway as there was always something to do.
We had a tender to Guernsey and at first thought they might stop these as it was so foggy around the ship that it was impossible to see anything at all. It did slow things down though so we were quite late getting off the ship. Guernsey is a beautiful island. We didn't go on a trip but just had a look around the port and shops and spent some time in a bar watching the Ladies Wimbledon final with some of the Guernsey locals, who were very pleasant to us. We would love to return to Guernsey at some time for a long weekend.
The next day was a sea day and again, we spent time watching the Men's Final at Wimbledon. There was a great atmosphere in the sports bar (Brodie's) and it almost felt like we were at Wimbledon as everyone clapped at every point and got excited as the game progressed. The same night we saw Russell Watson. We missed our evening meal as we couldn't manage to watch the tennis and Russell as well as get to the dining room, as it was also the black tie night and we got dressed up. We just ate later in the buffet (which was poor).
The next day was Monday and we got a free shuttle bus to Blankenberg to catch the train the Bruge. However, when we saw how nice Blankenberg was we decided to spend our day there and we are glad we did as it was a really nice holiday place with a long, clean beach and two piers.
Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly.
We would definitely cruise with P & O again. Our one disappointment was the food, which was the worst we have had on any ship. It was adequate, and we could always find something to eat, but it was of poor quality at times.
