This was our first time on H/A. We had previously gone to Alaska with Princess. The food on H/A was definitely an improvement over Princess where presentation ruled and taste did not. Had the best lasagna I ever had on on the Veendam. Staff was just as your expect - excellent.
Dining room seemed disorganized the 1st 2 nights - open seating meant a 20-30 minute wait, and we asked to change to fixed seating.
Entertainment was very good. The singers - esp 2 of them - were outstanding. Juggler was quite good. It was mostly free of the juvenile bathroom & sexual humor that is so common. Violinist and accompanist were quite good.
Decor seemed a little dated, and all the pillows on the bed were quickly stashed in the closet; who wants to deal with that each night? Not me.
Excursions were a little disappointing - weather interferred with mt top view - fogged in. Guide to Peggy's Cove was excellent as was the tour of the Titanic graves. PC itself was cold and rainy and I wondered if it would equal its postcard look even on a beautiful day. Double deck bus tour in charlottetown was a total waste; guide was terrible. Couple behind us were about to leave tour when we stopped for the walking part - which was not guide-led but on your own. Very poor value. Very.
Transfers were done quickly. Sanitation keep us all well - emphasis on hand sanitation.
Disappointed that there was not more planned for day at sea. Offerings were repetitive. There were not the educational programs that we had with Princess to Alaska. Totally useless meeting for disembarkation took up time - it was given in printed form later.
Library & library area very pleasant but smoke from the casino seeped out and into library which was very annoying. Very.
We would travel with H/A again, finding the excellent food, less "edgy" entertainment, smaller ship to our liking.
