This was only our second cruise with RCI, having cruised primarily with Princess and Holland before this. The other RCI cruise was on the Allure, which was also a great trip. My wife and I were cruising with our adult (22) daughter this time, and booked the two bedroom family suite so that we could all be together. Embarkation was not as smooth as we had hoped, especially for a ship this size and the fact that, as a suite guest, we thought the process would be easier...as it was on the Allure with over 2.5 times as many passengers. So, we were a little worried at the outset. Our fears, however, were unfounded. From the moment we stepped on board we felt the crew was wonderful. This ship itself is in really good condition for a ship this age. It is obvious that she is well maintained. Our suite was very nice...perhaps a half step behind Princess in the quality of the beds and furniture...but still nice. The deck was rather small for a family suite. Our cabin steward was tremendous! The cabin was always clean, freshly stocked, and he was very attentive to our needs. The food on the Jewel was also a nice surprise...starting with the Windjammer Cafe. We felt this buffet was better than any Princess ship we had sailed. We ate at both specialty restaurants (Chops Steakhouse and Portfinos Italian restaurant) were both very good. We visited St. Kitts (our first time but not last), St. Thomas, Aruba, and Curacao. All were fantastic. Our daughter did the Sea Lion swim on St. Thomas and swam with the dolphins at Curacao. She loved both. We all did the "Rail and Sail" excursion at St. Kitts and it was very nice. But, the biggest surprise for us was the entertainment on the ship. In addition to the ship's cast of singers and dancers, which were fantastic, there were two guest acts that blew us away in terms of the quality of the show and talent. "Young Elvis" and "Motown Divas" were amazing! All-in-all it was a great cruise. We are definitely going to sail RCI again!

Cabin Review

Two Bedroom Suite

Large enough for 8...but 3-4 would be more comfortable. Good, quiet location.
