Long story short, the wife and I decided to give NCL another chance since our last experience on another one of their ships was not that good. They gave us each $300 dollar credit for the bad experience and we decided to take advantage of it by booking a cruise shortly before the 1 year expired. We booked the 10 day eastern Caribbean cruise on the Sun. The experience was very pleasant.
Embarkation met with with usual lines in Miami, however once the line started moving the wait was less than 30 minutes. St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St Lucia, and St Maarten were the ports of call and no complaints at any of them. Excursions were descent (over priced as usual) but excursions desk was helpful and friendly.
Room steward was as expected friendly and personable. Wait staff seems a little stressed. I guess that comes with the free-style dining and a few had a real bad attitude. I guess they did not want to be in their contract and some definitely showed it! Entertainment was good, not great but descent enough to be entertaining. Specialty restaurants were good but didn't appreciate being charged an additional fee for meal on top of additional cover charge at Le Bistro even though it was fantastic!
All-in-all not a huge fan f the free-style dining. It doesn't give you the personal service you receive like when you have the same waiter every night but for the most parts thsi cruise was very enjoyable.
Nothing to fabulous no excursions taken just enjoyed the city an beach.
