Ship Facts: Jewel of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Jewel of the Seas Deck Plans
Older style ship but great cruise

The wife and I did the first itinerary in 2010 and we were rained out in most ports. Things went great this time for the whole trip. We figured out that for the cost of several per cruise days in San Juan we could get get a second week on ship. It worked out well.

San Juan has a new and much improved airside for Jet Blue. We flew in on cruse day and we were on ship in less than one hour. Great check in and security process. For second week we met friends in the city and they checked in in similar quick fashion.

Ship is the last of its class to have been built but was in great shape and full of very artfully appointments. Public rooms were smaller but well done. Many actives in the centim and pool areas. Rooms were RCL standard. We had a larger balcony as we had hump room (9092) which is nice but not critical.

Food was very good. We were luckily to have Joseph as our Anytime dinning waiter. Franklin is also very good. We also went to the murder mystery dinner in Portifino and the food was excellent, fun show too. A plus on this ship was the outdoor dinning in the Windjammer, great views aft.

Cruise director was not stellar but her staff carried the show. Events were fun and shows well performed. It was cast's last show on the second leg and they really performed exceedingly well.

Ports were all good and excursions are what you choose. I do suggest you do more than a sail, a drink and shop, The internal islands are beautiful and have interesting histories.

Doing a back to back is a real treat. The crew gets to know you better and you them. RCL again comes through with a wonderful vacation. We shall sail on as long as the fates allow!
