Wonderful Cruise on the Allure

Sail Date: June 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We sailed on the beautiful Allure of the Seas and decided that if you can't have fun on the Allure, you just can't have fun! We started out at Rita's Fiesta on Sunday night. As Texans, we eat lots of Tex-Mex food, and we truly enjoyed this meal and margaritas. Afterwards we saw OceanAria at the Aqua Theater. Terrific show in a great amphitheater cooled by the sea breeze.

As Diamond Plus, we enjoyed the Diamond Lounge above the Royal Promenade. We saw the DreamWorks parade and the Captain's Welcome Aboard speech up there with no crowding. Ana and her staff are helpful, pleasant and professional.

We also visited the Concierge Club, which occupies 2 floors overlooking the Boardwalk. They offer a la carte breakfast and lunch with beer, wine and sodas offered at lunch. Of course the cocktail hours are wonderful.

We were able to upgrade to a Crown Loft Suite, which has 2 bathrooms, the bedroom on the upper floor, and 2-story windows overlooking the water. Remember More that both bathrooms have showers (no tub) and a single sink in each. Also there are stairs in the suite, so if you forget your shoes or sea pass card, you will be climbing stairs. We were invited to sail away from Labadee on the very front of the ship (helipad) with Shrek and several ship's officers.

The jogging/walking track on Deck 5 was great. Right lane for walkers, left lane for joggers. Direct access from Fitness Center via stairs. A tunnel through the front of the ship eliminates any stairs or U-turns. Clever signs along the way encourage you. No lounge chairs with smokers watching you exercise! We also loved the zip line and watching the Flow Rider.

This was the first time we reserved shows and specialty dining before boarding, and we highly recommend doing this. Being on the Allure is a little overwhelming at first. Remember you can always check how busy a restaurant is on the interactive signs that are everywhere. It was sad to see people crowding in line at the Windjammer while other venues were not crowded at all. Some of them were even tripping over the sign advertising the Wipe Out Café (no fee) just one deck below.

You can avoid most of the extra charges if you choose. We bought a soda package and internet package and we were pleased with both. Hope you are getting the idea that we had a wonderful cruise on the Allure of the Seas, which is a destination in itself. Less

Cabin review: Allure of the Seas Crown Loft Suite Deck 17 1744

Beautiful two story ocean view, very quiet location, spacious and comfortable. Two bathrooms with a shower and single sink in each. No DVD player, but huge flat screen TV upstairs and downstairs. Coffee & tea maker. Nice lounge chairs on the big balcony. Bring clothespins to completely close the blackout curtains.
