A Breeze it Was!
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Check-in in Miami was ok. We arrived at 1:00 pm and still had to wait in a very long line outside in the scorching heat. The line moved slowed but steadily. Carnival reps did hand us water bottles as we inched along. Once inside, agents at kiosks checked documents. Then you go thru security and up stairs to another line to pick up your "sail and sign" key card. You then wait again til your boarding number is called and go up another flight to board the ship. It was alittle crowded as people were trying to move. Not too bad but could use a tune up in the Embarkation dept. (especially if you have carry ons or strollers that have to go up 2 flights). The plus side is that the building had air conditioning!!
Once onboard, we made our way to our balcony cabin. Rooms were More ready! Dropped our carry ons and headed up to lunch at buffet and Guys Burgers. Extremely long lines, but that's too be expected on the first day. It got much better during the week. Ship was kept very clean, except for those who left their trash in the stair wells. Service was good except in the buffet where you would ask for something and they did'nt quite understand you. Lot's spoke broken English. Disembarkation was painless. We opted to carry our own luggage. We left the ship around 9:30 and headed out. Overall this was a great cruise!! Less
Cabin review: 8C8436 Balcony
Our balcony cabin was wonderful. This was in the aft near the elevators. Good access to buffet exactly 2 flights above. Bathrooms are your average size with shower, toilet and sink. Interesting that a balcony only had one bathroom and a window cabin has a separate bathroom with a tub in it.Read All Balcony (8C) Reviews >>
Port and Shore Excursions
Very cute town!! We did get rained out in this port so our parasailing was cancelled. It rained all day with very high winds. We strolled to all the shops and rode the hop on/off bus. Lots of bars! This town is known for its "key lime" goodies. Sampled key lime ice-cream, pie, cookies and chocolates. A definite must to purchase. Absolutely delicious. It's a touristy town so theres quite a few things you can do here. We also rented a 8-seater golf cart and rode around town. Don't forget to go to Rick's Bar/Restaurant and get a "fish bowl" caribbean rum punch..... can serve 4 people and it's very refreshing.
GREAT CHOICE for Southern Cari...
