Ship Facts: Carnival Valor Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Valor Deck Plans
First Time cruise - Terrific Experience on Valor

My wife and I had a terrific cruise on the Carnival Valor out of Puerto Rico. We arrived in Puerto Rico from Georgia a day early on Saturday and stayed in the Marriott Courtyard Miramar. Saturday night, we had a pleasant dinner in old San Juan.

Sunday, we took a cab to the ship area around noon and checked in our bags. We then took several hours to ride the free trolley around old San Juan to shop and see the sites. This gave us a good way to "kill" time before we boarded. Around 5pm, we boarded quickly, unloaded our stuff in our room and then we had dinner in the Lincoln Dining room. The boat left port at 10pm. We watched the boat leave port from the serenity area on the front of the ship.

When we woke up, we had arrived in St. Thomas. After a breakfast at Rosie's restaurant, we disembarked the ship, checked out the local visitor center at the port to determine which excursion we would take. We didn't book any excursions through the ship but talked to several who did enjoy their trips via the ship. At St. Thomas we took a cab to Megan's Bay beach and had a very relaxing day on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Cab ride was $8 per person each way.

We returned to the ship, enjoyed dinner in the Washington dining room.

Day at sea. Fun shows. Comics during the family show were good. Very good juggler show, magic show was fun and enjoyed both stage shows. We didn't do all these on Tuesday, but wanted to mention this here. The lido deck pool area often had loud music, so we went to other parts where it was more peaceful. The pools were clean but the hot tubs were crowded.

The excursion was a taxi tour of the island. Lots of nice and interesting stops. Took a tour of the Mount Gay Rum factory.

Took a land and sea tour to the Pitons. Beautiful views, lush vegetation. Two dollar local beers on all the islands.

St. Kitts, we took another taxi tour and did some shopping.

St. Maarten took a ride to Orient Beach. Beautiful water cheap umbrellas and terrific sand. Some topless women - the French side of the island.

Our room was comfortable, staff was pleasant and helpful, food was good and the ship had plenty to do. My wife and I had a memorable time, met some nice people and would recommend this trip to others. Wa also enjoyed the exercise room.
