We live in Orlando, FL so we are fortunate enough to be less than an hour drive from Port Canaveral, so no hotel stay or flight for us.
The Sensation has a kind of charm, the décor is aging but still fun and lively. The food was great in both the formal dining rooms and in the buffet (it's a buffet so expect typical assembly-line food).
On the ship we REALLY enjoyed the band that was playing outside of the casino, there were a lot of times we would skip the shows and just watch these guys play for hours.
The shows were well-choreographed and enjoyable, there was also a comedian who did a family-friendly version of his act, then later on he'd do the adult version.
There was a great "camp" on the ship as well, which was nice for the parents to have a few hours to walk around and feel romantic :) After a day on board we felt very comfortable having our 10 year-old get himself to and from camp, and after a certain time of night the crew would escort him back as well.
Freeport, Bahamas was more quiet and peaceful than Nassau. Depending on what you like, you can do the beach, shop at the straw markets, or check out the local Fish Fry for some authentic local food.
It was a busy 4 days, but the relaxing kind of busy. Would definitely travel on the Carnival Sensation again.
Most of our time spent on the beach, had a couple of beers and played in the sand.
