Not the royal Caribbean we thought we knew

We have sailed with RC many times. Almost every thing we love about cruising was missing from this cruise. We boarded in Rome. Embarkation was quick an easy. Once on board all changed. We went to windjammer for late afternoon snack. There was no where to sit. We made plates and took back to our room. We thought that it was busy because of embarkation day. We were wrong.

Everyday for breakfast and lunch the windjammer was full. The seats outside by the pool were full. We were in port 5 days. There were several people at windjammer with stickers on their shirts. I later found out that these are local people who pay to come try the ship out for the day in port. Great now I not only have to compete for space with the paid passengers, but now visitors on board for the day. Sorry but this upsetting when they don't have enough room for all the paying passengers to be seated.

At breakfast several tables were left dirty. When they cleared the table we had to ask them to wash the table before we sat down. One morning two tables over from us a group got into a fight. There were punches thrown. Passengers were calling staff for help. The staff just stood and looked stunned for several minutes. The bloodied passenger left before security arrived. Not a very nice atmosphere for breakfast.

The Romeo and Juliet dinning room was a different experience too. We had my time dinning because there was not room in the main dinning when we booked. After the first evening we were told we needed to make reservations for dinning. We found most of the staff friendly. There were a couple of evenings that we were subjected to staff who were angry with one another. They were talking about the incompetence of one of the waiters. It was uncomfortable to hear. The next two nights we were subjected to the same waiters with the same problem. We go on vacation to forget about personal problems and try to enjoy our surroundings.

The food was not to the standard that we had come to expect from RC. Desserts were dry and tasteless. The mouse tasted like plastic.

Just a few more things. Formal nights no longer have lobster tail unless you want to buy it for $35.00. Wow really. At the ports unless you wanted to walk a few miles you need to buy transfer tickets for $10.00 to$20.00 a person.

Sure there are plenty of things RC does right. We just felt like we traveled a long ways, paid a lot of money and didn't get the service we were used to. We were not alone we met several others on our cruise that felt the same way. Sorry, but I wish I would have known before I booked.
