Ship Facts: Carnival Sensation Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Sensation Deck Plans
Enjoyable time on the Sensation, but food was poor.

This was out second cruise, previously cruised with Royal Caribbean. We were just looking for a short getaway without our kids. Even though there were some unfavorable reviews, we went in with an open mind. Embarkation and disembarkation were quick and really did not have any waiting time.

The ship is older, very purple, but it was clean, We had an OV Aft room and our room attendant kept it clean and always had a smile and greeted us. We spent a lot of time on the Serenity deck and it was very nice. One of the jacuzzi's was closed off by the second day which was unfortunate. Not sure what was wrong with it, but the other one stayed busy and was full of guests all day. The regular pool and jacuzzi areas were always busy, but there was always an available chair when we wanted one.

The shows were good, the Punchliner Comedy was just okay. The comedian was slurring his words and it was only the 11pm show. He kept pushing for everyone to buy a beverage. The Far From Over show with the singers and dancers was great! Don't miss that one if you are going.

Now to the food. We did not go to the MDR, so I cannot speak for the food or service there. At the buffet, breakfast had the most selection, but the eggs were under cooked and a lot of the food was cold even though it was served on the hot tables. The omelets were good, especially because they made them in front of you and they were hot. Lunch and dinner only had one hot choice, (one night being chicken nuggets) and there was only one side of the buffet being used. The deli was good, we ate quite a few sandwiches from there. Fresh and made to order. The pizza station was supposed to be open 24 hours, but it seemed like there was never a worker there to serve the pizza. Many times there was a line and the people waiting were ringing the bell for service. Occasionally the server would come out from the back, but if you asked for anything, he said it had to be cooked and would take 7 minutes. This was even just for a cheese or pepperoni slice. Very frustrating. The lemonade was available, but ran out about halfway through the day. Same situation with the ice cream. Dessert selections were just okay, nothing spectacular.

We enjoyed our getaway, but most likely will not go on this ship again due to the food service.
