I will start off by saying I am a travel agent so when I cruise I look for the good, the bad, and the ugly so I better know how to serve my clients when I am looking for the right cruise ship for them. On this particular sailing I had 4 other cabins with me so some of my comments here came from others that were sailing with me.

Embarkation: I have mixed feelings about how this actually went. I think for the normal no problem passenger that is not in any way handicapped or needs special assistance this went very smooth. I myself had no problems and I would have been able to walk right on the ship when my number was called. The glitch comes with the fact that I had two people traveling with me that had both rented electric scooters due to mobility issues. This became a nightmare. The people at the cruise port had no idea what we needed to do to pick up the scooter that was suppose to be waiting outside. My clients were given specific instructions via the company, which I would never recommend to pick up their scooters at the gangway over by security. We asked several different workers and not one person had a clue where we needed to go. This in itself became a very frustrating process. We were finally able to locate someone that was able to get the information after about 2 hours of trying. Most of us managed to get on the ship then at approx 230pm. We were there at 11 if that paints the picture. However due to problems with the scooter one of my clients rented (not a fault of the cruise line, a fault of scoot-a-round) she didn't get on until right before last call. This was not a great way to start her cruise. After all those hassles were done we tried to get our cruise in full swing.

Public Rooms: I think this ship is beautiful. I didn't get the wow factor I like to feel when I enter the main area of the ship but she is very elegant in design. I thought the layout was a little choppy but all in all I found most of the public rooms very appealing. The two areas I felt needed major improvement were the lack of seating in the buffet areas and the worst main show room I have ever seen. There are not even enough seats for half of the people sailing. I don't know whom thought that would work but it certainly does not. If you wanted to get a decent seat with people you were sailing with you had to arrive very early to do that. It was always standing room only with people sitting on the steps etc. I think this is a major flaw in this ship and it became frustrating night after night worrying about finding seats. The entertainment staff will actually take seats from you for others to sit in if your husband or wife is in the restroom and that seat is open. I heard more passengers then not complaining about this every single night. I sailed on the Caribbean Princess her first year out and never found this to be an issue on this ship. They should have kept that design and seating. Another area that I felt they really changed was MUTS (movies under the stars). This is such a great concept that it was one of the reasons I chose this ship. My husband and I sailed the first year the Caribbean Princess was out. They gave you a list of movies that were playing and you actually received movie tickets in your stateroom. The area was closed off and the seats were all cushioned with blankets before the movies started in the evening. You arrived for your show and presented your tickets. It felt like a real treat to go on the ship and enjoy this. On the Crown they only cover some of the seats&no movie tickets are used and you just walk up and sit down. I think that removed some of the charm of MUTS. I wish they would do it the way they did when this gimmick first started because it was really a nice touch.
