What a great vacation on the Carnival Liberty. We were a family of 5 adults on the cruise and we started by flying into Ft. Lauderdale the day before on Friday and catching a shuttle to the Miami Port Saturday morning (well worth it to not have the stress of flying in on cruise day). We stayed at the Sleep Inn and Suites in Dania Beach which was a nice place and had a Walgreens and Publix supermarket next door. The shuttle to Miami Port was with QLS transportation and they were on time, very courteous and the rates were very reasonable. We also used them after the cruise to get back to Ft. Lauderdale airport. Embarkation: Was very easy and we were on the ship very quickly, all the staff was courteous. Once on the ship our room was ready on time and luggage delivered quickly. We have sailed on the Liberty before so we were used to the layout so it was easy for us to get around right away. For first timers it's a good idea to use the little map of the ships decks and take a walking tour.
Food: The food in the dining room was very good and the staff was fantastic. The food at the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was good, the 24 hour pizza and ice cream was a treat and Guys Hamburger Joint was excellent. Drinks were a bit expensive, but that's normal on cruises.
Entertainment: There was always some type of activity on the Lido deck as well as other areas of the ship. The comedy shows were fantastic, never laughed so hard. The Mardi Gras night was a lot of fun as was the last day party. The ship had a musical singer Andy who played the lounges and Lido Deck bars, he played a great mix of songs and was fantastic, very nice to sit and relax to. The ship was very clean and the staff was very helpful.
Rooms: Our rooms were very nice and the room stewards took care of all our needs, they were wonderful. Recommend the balcony rooms.
Gym: We used the facility and it was very nice.
Excursions: Cozumel: The excursions were cancelled due to the only day of bad weather, customer service was very good with crediting the excursion and planning new ones.Due to the weather we walked into the port did some shopping and enjoyed the bars. Belize: Snorkeling, the guides were very good. Roatan: Did the all inclusive Mayan Princess Resort excursion, what a great day at the beach and resort pools, the food and drinks were excellent. Grand Cayman: We went into port and walked around, very nice port.
We had the unfortunate need to visit the Ship Medical Bay and the Nurse and Ship Doctor were very nice and took care of all our needs, the staff followed up twice during the cruise to check on everything. Debarkation: The process was very smooth and we were off the ship and through customs within an hour.
We will definitely cruise on Carnival again and will cruise on the Liberty again as well.
