From the minute we stepped on board we thought we had stepped back in time, the decor was very drab, the welcome was even duller. We had to wait for all the cabins to be turned over before anyone could get to their cabin. The cabins was spacious enough, the steward was very pleasant.

There were no welcoming drinks and the sail away party was the worst we had ever experienced, was half expecting Vera Lynn to start singing.

The entertainment was very poor, forty five minutes of one act, they were very good, but it took the entertainment team a week before they put on a show, again about forty five minutes and nothing to write home about.

On the second week one of us had food poisoning and was confined to the cabin for four days, we blamed this on the poor hygiene practices especially in the Orangery dining area. We stopped using the Medina restaurant as the food was never hot. In the Orangery, the glasses were dirty, on one occasion both glasses at our table had lipstick on the rim. The waiters never moved out of your way, never made eye contact and never smiled. I complained to the restaurant manager and he blamed the hard water?
This was our first and definitely our last P&O cruise.
