Have just returned from a weeks cruise on the 'Dream' with two friends who were first time cruisers. We were a bit disappointed as it did not live up to the Platinum standard in so far as the pool areas very basic and shabby, lack of sunbeds and space (the usual problems with passengers reserving them all day) Stated in the daily information sheets is that the sunbeds cannot be left un-occupied for more than 45mins, how do they police that ? We did complain that the day at sea not one sunbed to be found, having then to sit on one of the boarded deck areas, not acceptable. We were told it was too difficult to control, then why state that there is 45min. limit on bed left unattended. Also the Lido food was not good, cold and soggy vegetables. Our third problem was that we had booked on the first day a trip only to find a note in our cabin the next day to say they had cancelled it due to lack of bookings, We asked why we had not then been offered another trip as when we did complain to the Excursions Manager, all trips were then booked ! Nothing available and no offer to help us with going on another trip. Not good enough, just to take our money and cancel. We had not been in the cabin all day to see the note cancelling it. After exchange of words we asked to see someone else who may be able to assist us, and we did. We were offered seats on another trip we agreed to do, how did they sort this, arranged for a bigger coach, then why did the Manager not do this. Not happy to have to spend time out of our holiday to sort this.

Overall, staff and entertainment very good as the norm for Thomson cruises. The cabins were very comfortable and a good size with coffee and tea facilities. I would say to Thomsons that there is a lot of competition out there so they need to pick up on certain areas. Looking at other cruise ships they need perhaps to update their logo and the name of the ship is boring in how it is written, Looks like a stencil !

Would we go again on a Thomson cruise, yes, but would do research first. Having spoke to passengers on the Norweigen Epic they did not pay anymore than we did, and the ship offered so much more.
