Initially a fiasco, not sure who really was to blame but British Airways accepted responsibility. Arrived London Heathrow after a 0430 start, found the flight to Venice had been overbooked. An amazingly helpful Celebrity representative was on hand and looked after coach transfers to Gatwick, new flight and arranged compensation from BA. Unfortunately flight to Venice was not until about 1530 arriving Venice about 1830, no representatives so had to book private taxi to port. How Celebrity can offer an all in package without guaranteeing seats amazes me.Cruise itinery is one of the best in the mediterranean, we did this same cruise last year. This time just visited one or two of the ports we had omitted last year and re-visited some of the best. Many of the ports allow easy transfers to City or Town centres and you can do your own thing. We are not great guided tour people !! Best day Dubrovnik, with excellent Lobster lunch at a local restaurant. Now for the disappointing bit, this was the second time we had made acqua class reservations, we thought we had learnt our lesson the first time. We would not travel acqua again nor recommend it to anybody else. The staterooms are no different to Concierge class bar minor things like free canapes (poor quality) and bottled water etc. The Blu restaurant was again a disaster, the choice is extremely limited (3 entrees) and you can still get a filet mignon almost like boot leather. We eventually split our evenings with the main restaurant where at least you had something like a choice of 12 entrees, the occasional not so good and other times extremely good. The overall food standard on Celebrity Silhouette did not meet that of the two cruises we had taken on the Eclipse, We hope that is not a general lowering of standards.Staff throughout the ship friendly, efficient and the Martini Bar exceptional, spent every evening there. We have already made reservations for next year, this time back on the Eclipse, simply because it departs from our home port(Southampton). Overall we would still recommend Celebrity, but it needs to watch its standards.
