We arrived at port at about 11:45 and were escorted directly to the Haven check-in area. We waited only a few minutes before we were getting our ID cards and being escorted onto the ship and to the Haven. I should also mention that while waiting to check-in we were already making new friends. Larry and Roz, from Toronto, were charming and we decided to have lunch with them. That is often the best part of our trip the people we meet.
We were staying in cabin 14136, the Haven Spa Suite. The room was a nice size and would have seemed even larger if the large spa tub was not in the room. Having the tub in the corner added a nice size window and increased the size of our balcony. The bathroom had a large shower, double sink, and plenty of storage. Some people are very critical of ship cabins size, storage, etc. Unless we are booking an owners suite, I doubt we will ever be one of those people. We do not spend a lot of time in the cabin, but do enjoy relaxing on the balcony with coffee in the morning.
The Breakaway has many of the features of the Epic, but the flow is more attractive. Rather than the traditional large central atrium there are two smaller ones. The formal atrium has the large chandelier, frosted glass staircase, and goes the entire 3 stories of 678 Ocean Place. The ground floor showcases the entrance to Le Bistro, NCL's French restaurant. The second atrium is more of a second story that overlooks the 2 story video screen and space used to host some entertainment and games.
