As a first time cruiser I didn't know everything to expect but The Star Princess exceeded my expectations as the saying goes. Staff and crews were excellent. Cruise director Sammi was fun and very informative the whole week. Food was about what I expected it would be. Dining room was somewhat better than the buffet, but that was expected. Plenty of activities going on all the time while onboard. The excursions we booked through Princess were great.
Whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau were both exciting and well planned. The Skagway White Pass train ride up to the Yukon is an unforgettable event (complete with lots of snow). The Salmon bake in Liarsville was over the top in quality, taste and great entertaining fun after lunch. We weren't rushed and even provided a chance to do a little gold panning there too.
Ketchikan was a short stay but a town we'd like to hang around for days and shop. A lot of ideal and unique places to see there. We've never see so many Jewelry stores in all our lives than in all of these ports of call.
Final stop in Victoria, B.C. was the only disappointment since it was so late in the evening and it was getting dark by the time we made it to downtown. That is such a unique and storied town, it would be worth at least a 6 hour stay there to enjoy the many sights and gardens they have to offer.
Would we go again to Alaska and on Princess? Absolutely. Savings have already begun for the South Pacific/Hawaii trip we'd like for next year.
