Captain Remo led a professional, efficient and friendly crew - at all levels. I am not afraid to be critical and have been accused of doing this too often throughout my liife HOWEVER, I cannot be critical of my first cruise experience - and it was with RCI under Captain Remo's command.
What is it about - critical of the food? The food was fantastic with continuous choice of formal, informal, buffet or snack. The ONLY bad thing was the coffee which was inconsistent in quality. My only complaint is that the beer package for drinks, which cost us 170 each for 6 nights, did NOT include a decent coffee. We lost olut on this and will not do it again.
Onbaord entertainment was great and the ice skating show was spectacular.
The cabin was spacious and well equuiped - including hair drier and kettle plus tea bags etc. No coffee in room. But, room servic was free of charge except midnight till 5.00 am where was a great on board experience. The charge was very nominal.
It was half-term, and the children on board were well catered for - swimming pools, entertainment, clubs etc.
Stateroom attendant service was great and we enjoyd discovering each night the towl sculptures in our room - penguins, seals, and ships - all with my wife's spectacles adorning the works of art. Lovely touch.
As we are in the older generation - we watched but did not partake in the rock wall climbing, ice skating or surf board riding but it was lovely to watch. The miniature golf etc. was great.
Sprinkles - free ice cream - only found on the last day at sea - great ice cream for free!
Th staff in Windjammers were friendly and efficient. In the formal restaurants, th staff soon learned guest preferences and on the 2nd night our drinks were in place before we arrived at the table. Similarly with the less formal Windjammers.
The plates and food were hot, th choices were endless - UK, fast food, Asian, Healthy salads, endless desserts
The ship is more than impressive and in a Force 9 - we had no idea until we looked out of our balcony window. There was no movement to indicate the weather outside.
Onboard infoirmatuon was clear and precise and, as usual, the Captain made a midday announcement each day. Helpful, informative and with humour.
Our stateroom was spotless, well equipped and was kept that way throughout by a friendly, helpful attendant.
We have absolutly NO complaints and have read with interest, the research that Royal Car. have put into the requirements of the UK passengers. They have got it spot on - EXCEPT for the coffee.

Cabin review: Oceanview Stateroom

Port and Shore Excursions

Port

Oslo is a facinating and beautiful city - sadly we onkly had a half day here. An amazing mix of old wooden ships, steamers, modern craft. Wish we had more time.

Sadly this programme does not allow entry for Kristiansand or Stavanger which were both ports of call. Kristiandsand has to wake up to the fact that large liners vist - there were no direction signs and there was liuttle to do - although the locals, and local TV found our visit news worthy. It really would be helpful if they made an effort as a town to welcome and direct tourists to whatever they may have to offer.
Stavanger have taken this on board and - step of the ship to find dorectional signs and many, many things of interest - the Petroleum Museum was amazing, yet neither of us had any prior interest in the subject.
