Our cruise on the Veendam usually went seemlessly. Quebec City was beautiful but rainy so we couldn't explore as we wished. The next day was raining during our cruise day so that was an indoor day. We took an independent excursion at prince edward island the next day. It was a lot of fun. Sydney the next day was a quick walk through the city. Not much to do. Halifax was ventured into the next day but an injury forced us back to the ship. The temperatures were cool in the 40's and 50's.the next day was Bar Harbor - touristy.

Pros of the Veendam. Cabin Service was exceptional. we were blessed with a new towel animal nightly and really looked forward to them. James Caldwell on the piano at the Mix Bar was exceptional at providing great entertainment and including the crowd in selections. He sang his own style and it was great. The Mix Bar staff with Jose and company was great. The special Le Cirque meal was memorable and quite the value for our splurge night. Service was top notch. Most meals in the Rotterdam dining room were very good. The number one comedian in Canada was hysterical!! Our room was more spacious than anticipated.

Cons on the Veendam. In the Rotterdam dining room we were sometimes forgotten by the service on refills. Once at breakfast we seemed to wait endlessly. The tendering process at Bar Harbour was confusing. It seemed that we had to get off the ship even if we didn't want to. Also we were made to wait for over an hour to disembark. this process seemed chaotic. Charges for fitness classes were absurd.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin FF

lots of room with our double bed. Shower was good with good complementary soaps. However, the rest of the family's room in cabin 817 had a very tricky shower with cold water hard to control. Stewards went above and beyond on cleaning the room. They were exceptional.
