The Oasis of the Seas is one Fantastic ship!

Sail Date: May 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We were initially concerned that the ship was going to be too big with too many passengers. Not at all true. We had a fantastic experience on and off the ship. The entertainment was better than any we had ever experienced. Top notch! The cruise director was also great.... and what a talent! We enjoyed everything.... the food was very good, of course. If I were to change anything, it would be our room selection. We had an interior balcony overlooking Central Park. That was very nice, but, next time we will choose an interior balcony overlooking the Boardwalk area. Some friends who sailed the Oasis prior to us advised, we would regret getting an inside balcony claiming it would be too noisy. Not at all true. Once you close and lock your sliding glass balcony doors, no sound penetrates through. As I said, next time our room will overlook the Boardwalk area where we will be able to view all the activities on the Boardwalk from our balcony, including the Zip line, which was also a lot of More fun.

By the way, for as large a ship as the Oasis is, our embarkation and debarkation times were unbelievably fast. They are so organized that we had no wait time. On other cruises, we had to sit in a holding tank area for excessively long periods of time. On the Oasis, that was not the case. It took under 1/2 hour from the time we arrived at the dock, to the time we were in our room. Now, that's FAST!! Less

Cabin review: Oasis of the Seas Central Park view Stateroom with Balcony Deck 10 11655

The Central park view was very nice, but next time will do Boardwalk view. Our room was nice, but seemed smaller than on other ships. Some of the storage shelves were useless in that they were too narrow. I liked the fact that we could store our large suitcases under the bed.

Port and Shore Excursions

We only got on and off the ship in Ft. Lauderdale. We did not do any excursions.

Snorkeling

Seahorse Sailing and Snorkeling - NSE6. $49pp and well worth the cost. We enjoyed this excursion. They provided all necessary equipment.

We loved St. Maarten island. We took a water taxi from the ship to the Dutch side of the island. The beach was beautiful. I loved all of the local shops and open market areas. You can get some great deals on your purchases in St. Maarten. They will negotiate their sales price, which I love!

We did a self-guided tour of St. Thomas taking a local taxi to and from the ship. It struck me that St. Thomas did not appear as clean an area as it did 9 years ago when we last visited the island.
