We sailed on the Star from Copenhagen to Warnemunde, Tallin, St Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. The weather was good in all ports except Helsinki were it rained all day.

We were able to visit Tallin, and Stockholm on our own. Tallin within walking distance from ship and we got a hop on hop off bus in Stockholm from the cruise terminus.

We stayed in a hotel in central Copenhagen and took a taxi to the terminal. It cost 225 Kroner. A much better way to the terminal is to take the train to the nearest stop to the terminal and then get a taxi. Perhaps cruise lines could supply shuttle buses for embarkation and disembarkation. Just add it to the bill.

As we had been to Berlin on a number of occasions we stayed in Warnemunde. A neat and clean little town with plenty of cafes and shops. It was possible to take a ship or train into Rostock.

Tallinn is a must see town.

St Petersburg is a grand city and well worth a visit.

Helsinki was also a More beautiful city, shame about the weather.

Stockholm was again a beautiful city and the hop on bus took us to all the usual visitors places.

Now about the ship. If you have never been with NCL then give it a try.

If you have been with NCL before be warned that you will have seen the shows on your last trip. The shows "shout" and "elements" are well past their sell by date and on one of the evenings we got five average singers doing songs that nobody knew instead of the advertised artists.

We went to the Star bar, but left almost immediately as it was so dark that we could not read the Menu. This also happened at the Stardust Theatre during the staff show. It happened a third time in the Spinnaker lounge where the waitress used a mobile phone to light the menu.

The cruise was good value and the itinerary excellent.

Finally, we bought the Beverage Package for $516 each. With the ship refusing any kind of alcohol on board this saved us a few dollars over the period.

There was much confusion as to how it worked as some waiters told us to order bottles of wine and others glasses. We were also charged and refunded for a wine that was not on the list of approved beveridge's. Had we not queried this charge it would have been on our final bill. We were also charged $94 for a bottle of Whisky that we did not purchase. It was charged in error!

Ask for your bill the day before disembarkation.

Will sail with NCL again but not in the next 4 years as that will give them time to change the shows. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

The cost of a taxi from Central Station to the port is 225 Kroner. Can be accesses by train and a walk from the station.

Lovely little town with beautiful beach. Possible to take boat ride into Rostock. You have to pass the train station to get to the little boats. To get to Berlin be aware that you will have to up by 6AM to get breakfast and make the excursions.

Best of all the ports. Got hop on bus at the port which took us round all the sites. Beautiful city so we went round twice. Must visit.

We walked into the old town and caught the wally wagon which took us round the old town. We did stop for a drink as it was a sunny day. Very reasonable prices.
