This was my 14th cruise and I decided to try the new NCL Breakaway Ship. I nick named it Break Out of Jail instead. The lines to eat in the main dining room were ridiculous and after making reservations for the first two nights we were told no more reservations were going to be taken anymore, forcing people to either stand on line or forcing them to make reservations for the pay restaurants or eat at the buffet, which is hard to even get a seat in. However once you were able to sit and eat the food was pretty good, however it was the same menu in the free dining restaurants every night. and the service was so so slow making it hard to make plans to see the night time shows which also need reservations and if your 10 minutes late you lost your seat and the doors were closed in your face. So for the food i give it an 8, for service 5 and for availability a big fat 0.
Next were the shows...reservations were needed for the main shows which were both pretty good. However if you were late for the show the doors were closed in your face. Headliners had the same improv every night and it gets boring. In all the shows were limited...reservations were needed and it seems you are rushed to get out of the restaurants leaving before dessert was served in order to make a show or else!
The pool is way way to small and seating is limited on the pool deck. You can get seats on the upper decks but be prepared to walk up and down steps if you want to cool off at the pool. There is the VIBE Beach area that is where you pay per day or per week, for a private section where you get a nice seat and a hot tub. There is also a bar in the area, and a food menu, but you must pay for both the bar and food.
Many times we were told specialty restaurants were fully booked by the front desk but when you called for reservations there was availability. My point being if you asked the same question to three workers you would get three different answers.
The only thing this ship is interested in is MAKING MONEY. It cost to see shows, eat good food, get a seat at the pool and the only good night life was in the CASINO, where you spent more money.
The positives about this ship was its very pretty but that's all it is. It can not handle the large amount of people, they are not to helpful or accommodating, the rules change as they go along, and many things need to be worked out. I feel this ship was not prepared to sail as of yet.
As for me its back to the other cruise lines and perhaps the middle size ships. This ship was like paying for room and board without any extras unless you paid for it.
