Departing on "Mother's Day" and also celebrating my daughter's birthday, this cruise was to be a special thing. Other than my daughters companionship, it was anything but special. The food was mediocre, the service was almost non-existent and the cabin was lackluster. While aboard ship, we tried the Vista Dining Room, the Lido restaurant, the Pinnacle Grill (for lunch) and lots of room service.
The Vista dining room service ranged from very slow to OK at the end of the cruise. Portions of food were small and sometimes not very warm. Anytime dining works only part of the time, as they tried to seat us and then told us the table was already taken, so we had to go back to the matre di's desk and wait. And, last but not least my daughter was celebrating her birthday and the waiter had identified her for most likely a piece of birthday cake, but the cake never came, in fact no desert menu ever came after 1 1/2 hours dining.
We dined at "The Pinnacle Restaurant" for lunch. We ordered a filet of beef cooked medium rare, but received medium well. Something was lost in translation! We also had to send the bread basket back after discovering a hair.
Room service is a joke. Every order we placed by telephone had something missing. The most laughable was when we ordered a carafe of coffee only to receive a pot of hot water. Other problems were no condiments for hamburgers, and no jam and butter for croissants.
Customer service is generally lacking. Try to get someone to answer the telephone and you were on hold for thirty minutes. It took three hours to convert our bed from a king to two twins. One piece of luggage delivered to our cabin belonged to somebody else. Try to get your ice bucket filled or refilled, it's waiting forever or never. Cabin stewards disappear throughout the day. They must be doing double duty.
After cruising seven times, this was the worst.
