Holland America made sure this was a cruise of a lifetime. We went on this cruise with 5 other friends, all but one are retired and we're all over 60. We had cabins on the fantail of the ship. Not only did we have a 180 degree view from our balcony, but the rooms were spacious. Our room stewards were the best. Rooms were always clean and they looked after our every need promptly. They were there when you needed them, but never invasive.

Dining was delightful, in fact it was hard to decide to eat in the dining room or the Lido, both had such wonderful options. We usually ate in the dining room for dinner and did lunch in the Lido. Our dining staff were very attentive. Made us feel as if we were the only table they were taking care of. The culinerary staff pulled out all the stops in the offerings every night. We had trouble picking out what we wanted to eat [we would have loved to try everything]. The Lido also had a lot of really good choices. Also the staff were very helpful. Someone would help you carry your meal to your table and there was always someone willing to get you anything you may have forgotten to get yourself. Special meal days were done well, BBQ, desserts, Mexican. We almost always had breakfast in our rooms and the trays were always on time and well presented.

Loved every port we went to. The greetings at some of the ports were very nice. The excursions we took were fabulous, from zip lining to Sea and See to river cruises, to submarine. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and personable. Some ports I wish we had more time in.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VA

More than enough room. Three closets with hanging and shelf space. Drawers under couch. Two night stands with two drawers each, one of which locks. Roomy bathroom with shower and tub. Chair and love seat with table. Desk with two outlets. This would be my only complaint about the only outlets being at the desk. My husband uses a cpap and needs an outlet near the bed. But out room steward got us an extension cord [will bring our own next time]. Veranda very nice, two chairs and a foot rest. We had a fantail room so we had a 180 degree view off the back of the ship.

Bit of advice, bring a fabric shoe rack to hang over bathroom door. Lots of pockets to put stuff.
