Elegant Ship for Med Cruise

Sail Date: April 2013
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

Ship was clean and well-appointed; staff well-organized. Shows were above average in variety and entertainment. NO PIANO Player in Michael's Club which
was disappointing and the karaoke was too loud and hard to see performers.
We were upgraded to Aqua from CC. Found the layout for storage to be very lacking/few drawers/ maybe bed by window better and not so crowded by closet.

Not impressed with menu and food in BLU. This is a menu that needs to be navigated for satisfaction. Food had higher sugar content to replace reduced fat, as was also apparent in the free ice cream by buffet, not creamy and definitely inferior quality than that on Constellation, 2011, Baltic Cruise.

Waiters would recommend; and I was always underwhelmed, Apparently if one drinks wine with every meal and the setting is lovely, advertised as "special" one thinks the food is great! In my experience, one can get good quality food in main DR, Bistro on 5, or other venues if so desired! The More main reason I would not do Aqua again is the enjoyment of meeting others in the Main DR (Select Dining) Mostly tables for 2 in BLU unless with a small group of 3-5. The other perks for Aqua can be purchased with other cabins (like Persian Garden) if desired. The extra cost for Aqua and BLU is NOT worth it, IMHO!

Because we were tired from ports, we ate in buffet a few nights. Layout good but food looked better than it tasted. If you stuck with fresh salad makings, fruit, pizza, meat without sauces or leftovers from lunch, fresh breads for sandwiches, some liked sushi (I live in California and get sushi there plus fresh food all year)...and the cookies were good. Bistro on 5 had the best
salads and interesting entrees, soups, et al. We did not eat in any other specialty restaurants; feedback for Tuscan Grill was not good for price of surcharge.

We ordered Room Service for breakfast one morning/eggs terrible, rubbery, cold asparagus /tipped Room Steward $20 at start of cruise (had pre-paid gratuities); had adequate care but nothing special from him. We thought it was because we were not around in room much during days at port. The above comments were only detailed because I was thinking through what I was writing. The casino was large, great gym, all in all a great ship to take on this itinerary. The TA people loved it!...as they were rested before they hit Barcelona. We took Dream Tours in Nice which I highly recommend and RomeInLimo on Amalfi Coast. We took Cruise private train into Rome and would
also recommend the speed and comfort this provided. Because we had been to Italy before, those were the only scheduled tours. Less
