There were 14 that cruised on the Carnival Valor on October 1st. We flew into Miami on Saturday and we stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. It was a very nice hotel. We had rented a car so we did not have to take a transfer to the port.
On Sunday we went to the port around 10:30 to drop off our luggage because we had to go return our cars. After dropping off the cars they provided a transfer back to the port. Once we arrived back there around 11:45 we got in line to check in. The whole process took about a half hour. It went very smoothly.
Once on board we went straight to our rooms and then went for lunch on the lido deck. There was a wide variety to choose from. I chose to eat at the deli which I did almost everyday. It was very good and always fresh and hot. The staff in the lido deck dining was very friendly and always there to take your trash as soon as you were done eating.
We had an ocean view room which was very nice. Our room was very spacious there was plenty of closet space. The bathroom also had plenty of room to move around in. Our room steward always had our room clean and we had a towel animal every night but the last night. The bed was extremely comfortable and spent many hours in the bed taking naps.
The ship itself was very nice and very clean. It can be a little confusing on how to get to the dining room but it's not that bad. All the activities and shows were pretty good. The cruise director could have been a little better but he was alright.
Our waiter and team waiter we pretty good. They did get our food messed up a few times but nothing major. The menu was alot better this year than in the past.
Grand Cayman: We went to stingray city and then did some snorkeling. We really liked stingray city. It was a pretty crappy day because it ended up raining the whole day. We did a little bit of walking around but not much. Went to Jimmy Buffets and got something to drink and then we went to the rum factory and got a few cakes. We decided to go back to the ship for lunch.
Isla Roatan: We went to the beach and did some snorkeling. There was a pool at the hotel right on the beach that we were able to use if we chose. It was a huge pool with a swim up bar. It was there off season so we were the only people in the pool. After we left the beach we did a little shopping. This was an okay island it wasn't very clean. But the beach was very nice.
Belize: We chose to go on this tour where you could swim with sharks and stingrays because that is what the guys wanted to do and girls wanted to go to the beach. They said it was an okay beach but not as nice as others but there was lounge chairs, jet skis, and gold carts we could use. It was a 45min. boat ride to this island once we got there they dropped the girls off and then the guys went out to swim. We walked where they told us to go to find the beach and when we got there we looked around and saw no chairs, no jet skis, and the only golf carts were their cars. So we walked up the whole island because it was only 5 miles and there was no beach around. We didn't even get in the water because it was so dirty. We ended up sitting on a bench for 2hrs. We were not very happy. On the way back to the ship our boat almost broke down 5 times. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We did some shopping once we got back to the port.
Costa Maya: Didn't do anything on the island but shop at the pier because it rained the whole day. This was a very nice place and very clean. I wish we would have been able to do something outside of the pier but we didn't want to spend that money and then it rain all day which it did.
Only negative thing about the trip was stopping at four islands. You did have the relaxing sea days and you felt so rushed because you didn't have a long time at the islands because you have to make it to the next port.
Disembarkation went very smoothly and we were off the ship by 9:00. I would recommend this ship to anyone and would go on it again myself. We are already looking at cruises for next year.
