My wife and I chose the VEENDAM for this sailing because it visited each port twice. This gave us 2 chances to get some good weather...and we needed it !
We flew into Boston 2 days early and really loved our time in Boston. It is a great city with SOOOO much history. The embarkation was delayed for about 3 hours.
Not really sure why....rumors said Noro...once on board Captain said fog and traffic were the reason. Who knows?
We had a verandah suite category A and it was clean and large enough for the 2 of us on a 14 day voyage. No complaints about the room. Some days going up to Quebec City were so calm and warm that the balcony was a great spot. Going back the weather changed from warm and sunny to cold and rainy...did not use it much then.
The dinners and food overall were very good and even the buffet was better than average. Nice job culinary staff! Room service was hit or miss on getting all of the order right. On 2 occasions I got my coffee cup, cream and More
sugar....but no coffee. Really?
The ship brought on outside performers and they were what made the shows so good. Two sisters did a celtic show, bagpipers, comedians that were funny...just great.
The ship staff was good , just not excellent.
Overall a nice ship, a good crew, and a good enough cruise. The BIG disappointment
was the casino. It is old, small, and several machines were broken and even dismantled. Not at all like any casino on any ship we've been on (34 cruises). Less
Need to get out of town to see local color and sights. Peggy's cove was beautiful.
If you go there, stop at Ryer & Ryer lobster business on the right as you go into Peggy's Cove. They will cook lobster for you at about $9 a pound!!! WOW.
