First Cruise Review

Sail Date: May 2013
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Baltimore

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent cruise and are already planning our second. Despite its alleged smallish size, we found plenty to do on board. Our 7 year old son was treated royally by the crew. He got balloon animals at dinner on two occasions and our steward did towel animals in our stateroom on several occasions. Our son also loved the kids club program on the ship.

Our suite was adequate for the 3 of us and the balcony was a nice addition. Even though we were at the back of the ship, there was no engine smell or soot. Everything on the ship was clean and the recent upgrade was stunning. There was no unoward odors as reported by other reviewers. We visited the Palladium theater mos evening and the entertainment was top notch.

We thought the food was very good. The dining room was excellent and the Windjammer buffet, although predictable, had a good selection for all meals. I would recommend that passengers on the Grandeur avail themselves of the upgraded More dining package. The food at Izumi (Asian/sushi), Giovanni's Table (rustic Italian with huge amounts of food) and Chops (steaks) was exceptional.

There were a few negatives. The casino was basically a smoking lounge and uninviting for us non-smokers. The bed could be more comfortable. And there seemed to be an inordinate amount of hawking (drinks, photos, liquor/wine/soda packages, etc). But all in all the positives far outweighed the negatives. We certainly would sail on the Grandeur again Less

Cabin review: Grandeur of the Seas Junior Suite Deck 7 8086

Cabin was clean and roomy. Nice balcony (8084 is larger!) No smell inside or out. Good choice!

Port and Shore Excursions

Our son loved the beach and play areas. My wife went para sailing. Fun place.

Certainly not Bermuda! Too much street selling (aka hawking).

Not sure what the point of this stop was. Not really much to do unless you wanted to go to Disney or the space center. Our para sailing was cancelled due to high winds.
