NICE ISLANDS SHAME ABOUT THE SHIP
Having had a wonderful cruise two years ago on Eclipse thought we would go to Hawaii have to say the Solstice is not a patch on Eclipse in every way.
We knew we were in for a wait when we arrived and were told to go and take a seat and have a drink and snack, 3 hours later we were called on board only to be told that the rooms would be ready at 5.30, OK we know why they were doing this, due tot he Noro scare, 5.30 arrived only to be told it would be announced when we could go into cabins. Rather then keep repeating this they could have told us there was show as usual, etc, got into cabin at 6.30, other people have mentioned there were no programmes, etc, so no one went to the show!!
Entertainment, the singers and dancers were very good, energetic and did a pretty good job. The other 'entertainers' varied from OK to awful.
The trio playing classical music were good, but were always placed in a walk through area so the enjoyment was spoilt.
The dining room was very More noisy, our saving grace was the company we had from two lovely American couples, they made out trip for us and we spent hours at dinner chatting and laughing, when we could hear each other! The food was OK, we thought the ship and food was no where near as good as Eclipse. Be warned if you are vegetarian, very little choice, meals were repeated, curry to hot to eat (spicy hot). No appetiser on one day, the portions were small too, I may be vegetarian not on a diet!!
The meals were always lukewarm or cold, and even after mentioning this several times, it never improved.
Tendering is a bit of a problem, but if you get your ticket early the longest you should have to wait is an hour or two.
Our biggest groan is the never ending piped music loud and intrusive, it was simply awful, loud, all over the ship and different tunes in different areas, the only place for some peace was in the cabin!!
The journey back to San Diego was something to remember, two and a half hours late getting off the ship due to the rain. Then onto a coach, the driver took a wrong turn and had to reverse onto a main road on a hill to get back, he then took the wrong turn at the border in Mexico, it was chaos at the airport, they really need to sort this out. If you are doing this trip allow at least 5-6 hours from when you get off! All together a nice trip, but not up to the mark for us, we are going on a river cruise next.Disappointed In Celebrity not 4 star! Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Solstice Deluxe Oceanveiw Stateroom Sunrise Deck (7) 7887
Nice size three of us shared. Could smell smoke when on balcony which was not nice. Signs of wear on chairs. Everything else OK.
