Ship Facts: Norwegian Sky Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Sky Deck Plans
First time on the sky
Well this was mine and my wife's first cruise and it was with our family. my father surprised us with it and we traveled with him his wife, me and my wife, and my brother and his wife. Embarking was extremely easy and we were through the lines and on the boat in under 30 minutes. We arrived around noon the day we traveled. we hopped up to the back buffet and had a decent lunch and once the rooms were ready we went and checked it out. we were all side by side so it was easy finding them for dinner and such. our bags arrived around 30 minutes after we got to our rooms. we unpacked and headed up to deck 12 at the front of the ship to take pictures while we disembarked. afterwards we headed down to get dressed up and headed to the palace for the first nights meal. all in all the food was good enough. the buffet was very bland but i kind of expected that before heading on the cruise so i wasn't really unhappy about it lol

first day we stopped in Freeport. i was kind of worried i wouldn't like Freeport from what i read on the forums and such but i thoroughly enjoyed it here. we took a short taxi ride to port lucaya where we walked around looking at the town and what it had to offer. the straw market was a little pushy but not bad enough you couldn't just say not interested and kept walking on. what i liked most about this stop was their beaches. i figured since it was a free beach it wouldn't be that nice but it was actually amazing. the beach was clean and sandy, not a lot of rocks, and fairly empty. Me and the wife and my father and step mother spent about 2 hours on the beach here just enjoying our time and the sun and waves. we headed back to Freeport and got back on the boat without a problem. my wife decided to take a nap, so i took that opportunity to head up to the sports deck and play a little basketball, and just generally walk around the boat and get a feel for it. we all dined together the second night at the crossings. once again the food was really good here but afterwords my wife felt a little sick (we don't think it was from the food we just think it is where she was pregnant and exhausted) so she headed back to the room for an early night. i went down to watch a show with my father, it was kind of like an american idol type thing. it was amazing but it was entertaining to say the least :P. i headed back to the room afterword and went on to sleep.

day 3 we went to Nassau, and i was really looking forward to this day.....needless to say i was very displeased with this place. i knew going in there was going to be aggressive sellers so that wasnt what it was, i guess it just didnt live up to the expectations. the beach was dirty and had glass scattered everywhere. the markets were decent but everything was just the same, though we did find one shop we really liked. we decided to head back to the boat early this day and walk around the boat taking a bunch of pictures. we had an early dinner and went to watch the comedian this night, he was really funny. swung by the white hot party....it was ok i guess we arent the partying type so we went back to the room and watched a movie instead.

day 4 was in the great stirrup cay, we knew going in we were going to have a lot of fun this day. we got one of the private cabanas and now after having it wouldnt know what to do on this island without it. we loved the privacy and private beach front that come with it. we spent hours in the water swimming around watching the fish swim by, walking on the rocks out to one of the above ground rocks and just having a good time. we had a good lunch at the cabana and enjoyed the time we spent with our family. that night me and the wife decided to eat by ourselves. we went to il adagio, the food was amazing...but our server was WAY blow par, we didnt get a single smile out of her the entire dinner. we had one of the other servers constantly coming to our table though trying to make us feel welcome though. an that made up for it for the most part. we decided to head back to the room after watching to sunset and pack up for the disembarking.

disembarking was a breeze although we got stopped for a second sniff from the drug dog which i thought was kind of funny. he probably smelt the sand and shells we gathered from each island in our bags. but it was a breeze and we were off the boat and back out in miami in around 45 minutes

all in all it was a very nice first cruise and we do plan on taking another one, whether or not it is with NCL is a different story. with our child on the way we might decide to try another cruise line like disney that is better for kids i guess. but we will cruise NCL again one day.

we give it a 4/5
