4 of us flew to Copenhagen and boarded the Norwegian Star. Check-in process was smooth. Everyone went to the buffet after check-in and this set the tone for the entire rest of the cruise. Over crowded, lousy food and inept staff. Norwegian had allowed a 300 person tour group to reserve the main dining room for all meals and this was the only group that was allowed to reserve the restaurants. Every night if you went to the Versaille restaurant the wait was a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour. No one was encouraged to share so all of the tables for 4 or 6 were taken by small groups. The 3 course meals literally took an hour an a half to serve every night in both restaurants, which increased the slow turnaround. If you went to eat at 7:00 you had to wait an hour so you got to sit down to eat and 9:30 before you were finished. If that were not enough, the food was mediocre at best. The starters were good, but the entree's were very average as were the desserts.
We tried the pay dining room and the when you tried to call in for reservations, if you could get through, you were told the restaurant didn't open until late and that it was booked. When we finally got a reservation - the restaurant was empty though we had been told it was fully booked until a certain time. We talked to the restaurant staff and the opening time given to us was wrong and the restaurant was never completely booked.
I tried to buy a transfer from the ship to the airport and was told that they would only sell them to people that had flights that left after one. Ours left at 12:30 so we had to use a cab. Then I found out the day of the disembarkation that there had been a transfer for people whose flights left early. Then I was told to get brown luggage tags as it got off earliest at 7:45. Later I was told that there was a green tag that left earlier, and was given those. Then the disembarkation newsletter came out and the earliest exit was listed as 8:15. Only free style disembarkation could get off earlier and they used all of the cabs so we had to wait for over and hour for cabs to return to the Port.
Had a mini-suite which was comfortable but the close was only 6 inches from the bed and it was very hard to access.
