This is my first review on cruise critic. I find this site so helpful I decided to share some of my experiences.
The legend of the seas has been newly remodeled and for an older ship I thought it was it looked great.
The food in the wind jammer was nothing special but everything was very fresh. Chops grill was well worth the 30 pp, it was basically a $100 meal, and a nice change from the dining room. Izumis was also great, excellent sushi. These restaurants are located in the Viking lounge so you have great views while dining.
The entertainment on the ship was horrible with the exception of the first night. I think they feel like people are site seeing all day and will be too tired to see the entertainment so these ships get the bottom of the barrel in the talent department. The cruise director was horrible, which is so unusual for RCCL.
We started in Rome one day prior to departure so we basically had 1 and 1/2 days in Rome before getting our transfer to the ship. We used Civitivechia shuttle, they picked us up at our hotel after site seeing in the morning. They were excellent, prompt and cost a lot less than the ships shuttle, they were also our transportation back to the airport after our cruise. In Rome we booked a tour with Happy Travel, our guide was Simone, he was perfect and the tour of the Vatican and basilica were great. We didn't pre book a tour of the colosseum but were approached when we were walking by a tour company. We ended up booking the tour which included the underground, a must see ,for 46 euro per person. I had been in Rome several times but this was my first time with tours. They were both amazing.
In Genoa we didn't see much interesting so we booked our one and only tour through the ship. We did the Nice and Monaco on our own. Basically we needed a ride to these other places so found this to be the best option. We were here on. Monday and all the shops were closed in Nice. Monaco was fabulous and well worth the drive. In Marseille we booked a wine tasting tour with Provence Wines. Our guide as Frank who was great. We went to Cassis ,Aix Provence and Marseille. The winery in Cassis was breathtaking, the whole tour was amazing. In Barcelona we rented vespas for 6 hours. They had GPS systems with 5 preset tours you could choose from. This city is huge and there are a lot of scooters, just make sure you have experience riding one. We did have a couple minor scratches to the scooters because of inexperience so only do this if you have rode before we loved it. In Majorca we booked a tour with majorca-tours.com. They were awesome, our guide was Louisa who was well informed and loved her job. We went to Valldemossa which was a quaint little town, we didn't want to leave. In Valencia we rented bikes with Valencia bikes and had a tour. Great excursion, our guide was Eileen and spoke perfect English. This is the only flat city so it was perfect for bike riding.
We all had a great time and the time I spent on trip advisor paid off and gave us an unforgettable vacation.
