WOW on the Allure of the Seas
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
My family and I just completed a seven day Western Caribbean Cruise on the Allure of the Seas. I had to write to say it was one of the most wonderful vacations we have experienced. The ship is absolutely beautiful! I cannot believe of all the offerings you have on Allure. There were so many options each day that it made it hard for us to do it all.
Our family had balcony staterooms 9710 and 9712. We did not realize that the layout of each room was slightly different (9710 - bed closer to the door; 9712 - bed closer to the balcony). For ease of movement I highly recommend the layout like 9712. It made it easier to get to the closet and move in the room.
We decided to purchase the premium beverage package and it was a great deal. If you like an all inclusive experience this is definitely for you. If our vacation is not on a cruise, it is at an all inclusive resort. We like it since you know all food and beverage is covered and you won't have a heart attack when you see More the bar tab at the end of the week.
Our ports were Labadee (private island); Falmouth and Cozumel. We enjoyed Labadee as there are many option to do there. We stayed close to the boat in Falmouth but enjoyed Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and the shops. Cozumel was great! The waters were fantastic. We took the catamaran excursion and enjoyed snorkeling and swimming at a private beach.
Our daughter enjoyed Aquanats several times during our trip. At first she was a little nervous about attending however once she went and met the crew it was hard to get her to leave. It is located on Deck 14 forward (two floors below the Solarium). It was great to drop her off at Aquanats and then go to the Solarium for quiet time to read, sleep or swim.
There are a plethora of pools. The kids are is huge and there is a pool that is only 3.5 feet deep for little kids to be able to swim and stand. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the water guns nearby had the shooting distance that reached the kids pool so if you are sitting on the edge of the pool you WILL get hit with one of the water guns!
We experienced several shows and they were outstanding. We saw Chicago and I was so impressed on how well it was done for a cruise ship. It made you feel you were on Broadway. The shows at the Aqua Theater are a must! Our daughter was amazed by the diving and acrobats they could do. They also had a show with the Madagascar Characters at the Aqua Theater. We did not realize it until we read it in the Compass. It is a show all kids would enjoy. We also went to the headliner show which was hilarious. We all could not stop laughing. We attended One World on the last night. It was very entertaining and great music, song and dance throughout.
The evening had many options for us and our daughter to enjoy from dancing to Latin music at Bolleros to the 70's dance party on the Royal Promenade to riding the carousel. I was amazed there were NO lines for the carousel at anytime we went and rode it which was every night. We loved the Rising Tide Bar (the bar that moves up and down between deck 5 and 8). It was a great place to sit and people watch and was rarely crowded. Also Roxy playing the piano in Schooners was great. Since he is from Australia, any Aussie's on board would end up there by the end of the night. Roxy even has a jar of Vegamite sitting out on the piano for those who are courageous to try some!
The staff on the Allure was amazing. There are many choices you can make for a vacation and I have to say their staff has to be one of the main reasons guests return. A few crew members I would like to acknowledge are Collison, our room attendant. He anticipated our needs and went out of his way everyday to put a smile on our five year old daughter's face. By the end of the cruise our daughter wanted to go back to the room immediately following dinner to see what special towel animal Collison made for her. On the last night of our cruise, our daughter insisted on getting a rose from the flower cart on the Royal Promenade so she could give it to Collison to say thank you. He definitely does a great job!
In the Adagio dining room we sat at table 344. Our server Ramone, assistant server Abdi and beverage server "G" were the best team we have ever experience during any of our vacations (cruise or on land). They too anticipated our needs, to the extent that upon arriving to dinner each night they had our beverages waiting. Furthermore upon learning what shows we had reserved, they ensured we were able to enjoy our dinner in enough time without feeling rushed. Because of them we decided not to dine anywhere else that Adagio.
Finally, I applaud Ken Rush and his team for their hard work and making our trip so memorable. Their enthusiasm kept the energy high. We had a fantastic time enjoying the variety of activities that were offered and I only wish there were more hours in the day (and that we didn't need to sleep) so we could have been/ able to do them all.
So now that we are back home, we need to catch up on our sleep and go on a diet but I can assure you we will be back for another cruise on Allure. Less
