Read a lot that made me worry about the Statendam but it was a great small ship.. No sign of wear and tear as mentioned by many. Guess the January dry dock fixed most things. One of two hot tubs was down the whole cruise as well as 3 of 8 elevators. We walked everywhere so not a problem. Rest of ship was first class.

Room with balcony as large as we needed. Great storage as everyone mentions about these HAL suites. You do need to pre order a fan and bring along an extension cord and power bar to make cabin perfect. We brought magnetic clips as they stick on any wall and are great for storing daily papers, receipts, excursion passes etc. These were ideas gleaned from other CC'ers and they added to our use and enjoyment of the cabin.

Food was quite good but not in the great category by any means. Had 4 Pinnacle meals. Best by far was Wine tasting Sommelier dinner. Two ordinary Pinnacle meals great but Cerq meal was not worth the money at all. Ate once at Canelletto and had a very good meal with osso buco. Lots of decent wines at $30-34 and happy hour 2 for 1 plus a buck in the Sea View bar was fun from 4-5 every day. Staff throught ship were beyond great except in 2 areas. Crows nest staff were sullen. The shore excusion staff claimed to know nothing about any port except their HAL tours. Oven simple questions like could you walk to a beach or get a cab, was met with a shrug. Wallis was the opposite and most helpful.

Verandah Suite

Cabin B

Cabin 139 was great. Lots of storage, hangers and space. Safe was good. TV gave CNN , Fox news and about 5 movie channels. Shower great, tub jacuzzi broken. They would not put a chaise lounge on our balcony on deck 9 for " safety" reasons. But they were on balcony on 10 deck in same room??. Two chairs with cushions and small table were fine. Bring power bar and extension cord.
