Solstice Hawaii to Ensenada, April 25th - May 6th.
The week before we arrived for our cruise from Hawaii to Honolulu, we were informed by Celebrity by email that the ship had the norovirus on board, and we would only be allowed to come on board after 2:30 on embarcation day. That was fine, and I appreciate the information as well as the care taken to sanitize the ship for the next set of passengers. Many people however, did not get this information - as they had already departed for Hawaii. Their "fault" for not checking email, I guess but you have to figure that many would not be pre-informed prior to embarcation day.
Embarcation was a mess!! Many of the uninformed passengers arrived well before 11 AM only to have to wait in a large open area with not much information and no amenities - and no other alternatives other than to wait there.. I certainly understand that Celebrity had to sanitize the ship before we arrived, but they knew this in advance, they notified us in advance - so why weren't comfort stations with water and some snacks set up for the early arrivals? Or a shuttle set up to head back into town? Or something? Our fellow passengers informed us that they had to ask a number of times before bottled water and some packaged cookies were finally brought out.
