A 2 Night Taster Cruise!
It was in the words of Royal Caribbean a taster cruise to introduce the Adventure of the Seas to the UK market!
Embarkation was a breeze, from arriving at the port to being onboard took approx 30 mins!
Now im not too sure that the staff were tired from the Transatlantic they had just completed, but there did seem something lacking in the welcome onboard etc.
Our cabin was a Junior Suite 9234, really nice and roomy, Appollo our stateroom attandant was good!
Now the ship is getting old, and she is starting to show her age, and think she will struggle in the later months before her dry dock.
We also found that some parts of the ship were not clean, and all the stair banisters where greasy, I hardly saw anyone cleaning these areas!
Now remember that this is a taster cruise! Well I have to say if this was my introduction to Royal Caribbean I would probably never sail with them More again. The lines for Breakfast were Horrendous approx 20-30 mins to get seated, and trying to get a drink at a bar could take upto 15-20 mins.
Oddly hardly any staff around to take drinks orders, normally you get bombarded with people asking you if you wanted a drink!
We ate at Portfolios the 1st night and the food was really really good. Worth the extra suppliment for sure
Also this type of cruise attracted a lot of Stag and Hen Night celebrations with their only aim to get as drunk as they could as fast as they could. Which most seem to accomplish!
We spoke to lots of first time cruisers onboard and all said they would not cruise again. We tried to tell them that this is not Typical of a cruise, and to try it again.
So on the whole I dont think Royal did themselves any favours with this 2 day TASTER cruise! I think its put many people off cruising again.
Having said All of that, we still enjoyed our time on the cruise, we stayed clear of the stag & Hen Partys and enjoyed the extra space in our junior suite. Less
