Sail Date: April 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

We did this as part of a B2B. Summit was a great vacation. Ship facilities and Service was great. Food in the MDR was good but not great. Food in the specialty DR, Q'sine was great but a bit pricey at $45 pp.

We did the Concierge level . Difference between this and standard balcony is you get a table big enough to dine on vs a small snack table on the balcony and you have a love seat for 2 (that opens to a bed if needed) vs a chair for one in the cabin. You get the daily "savories" which is a few bites of snack - nothing much. You also get a bottle of sparkling wine which was a decent quality.

They say this is a limited view room, but what they mean is the design of the ship has some balconies extended a bit further out so when you look (in our case cabin 8047) to the right you do not have a full 180 degree view. Lets just say it's about a 135 degree field of view. Look at some pics of the outside of the ship. We did not find this limiting at More all.

Entertainment - Production shows were a little better than we've seen on other ships, and the independent comic and magician were really really good. Alexander the Cruise Director is better than most.

Mineral water pool in the Solarium was wonderfully relaxing.

We've sailed Celebrity, RCCL, Princess, Holland and Carnival. Celeb remains our favorite. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Catamaran Tour

Catamaran "Elegance" - The excursion is every bit as the name implies - Elegant! We did the lunch cruise. We were picked up right by our cruise ship and taken straight away to Elegance. The boat is a wonderfully nice cat and would never be crowded even with the max they take on of only 14 passengers on board. I observed some of their "competition" sailing about, and those boats seemed like a mob scene. This is a great trip to take to get away from the still more crowded cruise trip excursions or to take as part of your on land vacation on Barbados. Crew tends to your every needs. Lunch was wonderful and you are never without a beverage if that is what you want. Of course, the whole object of the trip is snorkeling and that was great. We saw turtles, ship wrecks and great reefs and fish. Someone from Elegance is in the water to help those who need it. I know a lot of cruise ship passengers are concerned about getting back to the ship on time and hence take the cruise ship excursion as some sort of insurance. Coming from off of a ship, the duration of this lunch trip is perfect. No rush to get back to the ship. Timing allowed plenty of time to get back, shower and relax a bit before dinner. We've done lots of snorkeling around the world and let me say that in Barbados - this is the trip to take regardless of your age.
