Well we were on a cruise we were really looking forward to. We were aware of the of flight times, but the cruise was one we really looked forward to.
We arrived at Fort Lauderdale terminal at approximately 11.30 a.m. Checking in was a breeze, until we took a seat with many hundreds of passengers to go on board. We were given numbers and as we waited a Princess representative appeared and started to call out numbers, well the strange thing was he could not be heard because he had no microphone, and no one could hear him, this was certainly not a good start, as quite a few people were quite unhappy and we could hear quite a lot of "comments" as to the efficiency of this process.
Approximately 2.p.m. we boarded, we had a balcony and were very happy with it. We met our Room Steward Jim, who I must say we were and continued to be very impressed with his efficiency and competence.
The ship is beautiful, but our bed was certainly hard and certainly needs replacing, the pillows were so soft that I had to use towels to boost firmness,till Jim realized the problem ( as I accidently left the towels in my pillowcase) and provided me with a third pillow. I was very grateful.
Entertainment on the ship excellent. Kory Simon.a delight to listen to. The Princess dancers, Tyronne Babb on steel drums and the other entertainers great.
Food, cannot complain, although dining at Michaelangelos was a bad experience for us, we found the waiters gave us the impression they really did not want to be there. We went there twice and nothing had changed. When your waiter forgets to provide you with pepper, and forgets to provide you with the desert menu, as he is too busy talking to the couple sitting next to you, then after being prompted by another waiter drops the menu on our table and walks away, and then again 15 minutes realizes we are still sitting there waiting, takes our order, it certainly not a good end to a night. We never went to Michaelangelos again. We had the same problem with Da Vinci"s the first time we visitied, but the service certainly improved the 2nd time we visitied.
The Horizon Buffet on the first 10 day cruise the staff seemed cold and disinterested but given a few days we definitely saw a remarkable change in attitude. The staff seemed very approachable and much happier, and we ate there often and had a good time special thanks to Vicktorria and Iryna.
Our favorite place was the Outrigger Bar. Sitting there with a few very nice people we met and Chris the barman was great and we loved it.
The International Cafe great service, and a pleasure to relax in, The staff always greeted you with a smile.
Generally a great cruise we did a back to back Eastern and Southern, and after 20 days the staff appeared to be more relaxed, and smiled more.
