This was our 4th cruise with NCL, we love being flexible with our meals. We had flown into Ft Lauderdale so took the Blue Van to the Port of Miami, very smooth. No problem with embarkation at all.
We headed to one of the main dining rooms for lunch, and we were not disappointed, great food and service. In fact, I believe the food was better on this cruise than our past 3 with NCL, kudos to our head chef.
We spent a lot of time on our balcony, relaxing and enjoying the sea! We read, talked, napped. We really needed this vacation - and we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on it - a little early but the price was right.
We ate breakfast at the Great Outdoors most days, sure loved that! Lunch, wherever - buffet sometimes, outdoor barbecue sometimes, MDR a time or two. We did not eat in any of the speciality restaurants.
Enjoyed our Meet and Greet and the galley tour with our cruise critic friends! Also getting to know the friends better on our Dora tour in Cartagena, a great group of 14 of us!
The ports were fine, we sure loved Curacao and St Thomas, the others were just OK. Took a tour with the ship in Aruba, and were not impressed at all with Da Palma island - didn't help that it was so terribly windy . . . the best ship's tour was with Captain Nautica - 9 of us, special help for my hubby with Alzheimer's, fun time snorkeling and just plain old swimming from the boat! I highly recommend this tour in St Thomas!
We took a cab to Cabana beach in Curacao, and were not disappointed, I'd recommend this for anyone wanting swim time on a lovely beach. They even called a cab for us when we were ready to go back to the ship, lovely time!
In summary, food was great most days, ate a LOT of ice cream, friendly staff, good shows (especially the juggler). Our steward was a negative, he was new, didn't speak much English, we had to call for help after he didn't really clean very well, had to wait on him more than once to finish our room so we could get into it . . .
If God permits, we'll cruise again, and always with NCL!
