Ship Facts: Carnival Magic Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Magic Deck Plans
First Cruise ....Carnival Magic...Straight up....
Please let me start by saying this is my and Michelle's first cruise. I did INTENSIVE research before and have the following post report specifically for all of you who like us, read everything and had no idea what to expect......

I'm going to make this as short and sweet as I can and convey as much info as I can from our limited 7 day stay...

To set the stage...we were in a Ocean suite with all the VIP afforded..as it turns out FTTF have more benifits...(???) VIP is just good for on board / off board help...would have bought FTTF for $50 if I had known...look into it

Embarkation....smooth, professional, and no pain...No problem with Galveston as I was led to believe( this will be a theme moving forward)

Room and cabin stewards....Room was brillient and our Steward ( CJ) was flawless... there from the start catering to every request???? Every morning / night ( not sure when he slept?) he was there...asking if everything was OK...addressed every concern( few), asking about our trip and the last days adventures....We never encountered them in the cabin??? We went for a 30 min breakfast and they were in and out....same at night...NEVER in anyway impacted our access to the room...like knomes.. we never saw, but always had EVERYTHING done right everytime....but always there if we needed them...

Crowding....Except for the Beach pool it was non-exsistent...I was extremely worried about this as I am not good in crowds....I would have thought the ship was Half full( No cabins available when we sailed)....had a chair anywhere we went, lines were three deep ( people) even at the buffet??? I have no Idea where the posts of 1/2 hr lines ANYWHERE come from. longest ...and I mean LONGEST wait at any elevator was 2 min only because we let a couple with strollers take our ride....

Activities...If you can't find something to do on this boat, anytime, you are a social problem????

Texas exposure....I saw a hugh issue with some on line that there were just a bunch of drunk rednecks on these cruises??? There was a bit of " Texas" flavor but as a whole all were extremely well behaved ( including the childeren) and were just friendly southern ladies and gent's. I saw NO extreme behavior..none

Crew....If I was the Capitain of the boat I would be proud. Although there were times when they were light on the number of attendents and you could not just snap your fingers for a drink, I found them attentive, extremly friendly, and quite accomodating. If you aren't afraid ( or offended) to have to go get your own drink once in a while , with hardly a wait at the bar...your good. The bar tenders were great...

Ports( docks and tenders) Longest wait was 15 min including tenders....NON-ISSUE.

I will capitalize the following ...because I need to...Michelle and I did the Chef's Table and... IT WAS AMAZING!!!!...If there is anyway you can swing this it is a MUST!!!!!!!!

Debarkation...This was the one that worried me the most...We decided to self assist and could handle our luggage but we had a bit, and we were deathly afraid of the " Killer Crush" we would find....

This is what happened...We got up and had breakfast( 2 deep at the buffet?)...Our floor depart time was 8:00am we were in our room packed and ready to go at 7:45. 8:00am arrived, we left our room, caught an elevator( immediately) to deck 3 stood in a 10 person line( 30 seconds), walked off the boat to customs to stand in a 3 person line, left the port building, walked across the street to where we parked and were at our car at 8:23am...23 min from our room to the car???? I timed it.....This may be unusual but it is EXACTLY what happened...

To close...As I said in the begining this is our first cruise. I did 6 months of hard research to try and figure every angle and much of what I learned was invaluable. Unfortunately along with the knowledge I had to wade through what I now feel was a bunch of overblown, self indulgent, on-line preening from people that have 8 million crusies under their belts and can't believe that there is not someone with a constant pucker at their southern half.....

GO...with an open mind and a smile on your face and I can assure you you will have a vacation of a lifetime.....

To all the people of the Magic and especially CJ ( our cabin steward) WELL DONE!!!.....THANKS......

PS...join a Roll Call .... had a blast with these people....
