This was our 3rd Cruise 1st with RCI AoS 2nd with NCL The Epic and now NCL the Pearl. We Arrived in Seattle 1 day prior to the cruise, this is a must if you have to fly,
The embarkation was a breeze-we arrived at 12am, porters were there to take our checked luggage. We waited inside a short time until security allowed the process to begin. We were on the ship around 12.30pm
Our cabin was ready for us to drop off carry on luggage big plus. We explored the ship for a short while, returned and found the cabin ready.
Our shore excursion tickets were waiting in our cabin, as had been promised. Our steward was efficient, friendly, and creative--a different towel animal greeted us on our bed every night.
We chose an inside cabin this was our third cruise and the cabin size was larger than I expected for an inside cabin, with plenty of power points the bed was sooo comfortable, I will say if you are going to Alaska and if you can afford then pay the extra More for a balcony, we met and made friends with some wonderful people and did experience a balcony for a while sitting and chatting this was cold but heaven.
The highlight of the cruise was the day we spent in Glacier Bay National Park. Three Forest Rangers boarded the ship to narrate and explain what we were experiencing it was amazing, They set up shop in the Spinnaker Lounge on the 13th deck with annotated maps. Ranger walked around inside/outside the 13th deck to answer questions.
We saw and heard glaciers calve into the bay. The entire cruise was worth this day. at one point we were sat at the stern of the ship with a hot chocolate just in awe of what we were seeing, just to complete our experience the ranger pointed out a very large bear swimming across the water.
The Pearl had a barbecue on the pool deck at 3pm every day weather permitting we found this on the last day, but this is a testament to the quality of the food in all the other restaurants food variety and quality was awesome. There was only one thing I found frustrating and this was the staff in the 24hr restaurant were not happy at you taking hot/cold drinks back to you cabin,
We enjoyed Juneau we did the salmon bake and gold panning stunning views at the river site , We took the White Pass Railroad trip in Skagway this was amazing, and enjoyed wandering around Ketchican. we did the crab boat fishing tour absolutely wicked if you have ever seen deadliest catch this is what they do and one of their crew was on our boat, they pointed out a whale coming up out of the sea it was magical to see this. In Victoria, we spent time looking around the town which was lovely.
As for entertainment, there was always something to do for everyone onboard bingo, shows we saw an amazing comedian, quizzes and casino and films children's activities.
There is also a really well-stocked library of current bestsellers. and a Games Room these were busy most days great for people who loved to play card's and board games and just chill alone or with friends,
The Pearl Crew were wonderful- Every person we met was both interested + interesting. Everyone did his/her best to meet our needs.
We selected the walk-off method to leave the Pearl in Seattle-easy, effortless, just a breeze.
A great experience. Highly recommend Norwegian and the Pearl. We would definitely take another Norwegian cruise. we loved the free and easy lifestyle of the NCL way the pearl is exactly what it says she is "a pearl"
Thanks to all the crew for making our 25th Anniversary so special Less
