We are first time cruisers, we flew into Charlotte and visited friends in Winston Salem NC. Saturday Apr 6 we drove down to Charleston, we arrived around 2:00 pm so no lines or issues parking a bit of a maze but lots of Carnival people pointing the way, emabarkation was easy and quick.
R208 is bottom and back of the ship, there was definite rumble for sure from the engines and more rolling than I expected. But a bit of alcohol and a lot of dancing makes you tired enough not to notice much.
We really liked the variety, 5 minute walk and you get 3 types of entertainment , Piano bar James, very entertaining, MOTOWN and BRITS in the main showroom, very entertaining. I don't know what people complain about its not Broadway but we enjoyed it, Karoke if thats your thing, Talented musicians in the other bar.
Food was excellent, service very fast 6 pm sitting. We ate every night in the Dining room. We had a great bunch of people at the table with us enjoyed it alot.
A bit pushy on the pictures and extras when walking down the corridors but easily ignored.
Day 2 was a sea day, we walked the track, explored the ship and again some roll on the ship... even the crew were surprised how long thsi was lasting. We were fine with but we heard the onboard store did great business on teh patches and bracelets.
We relaxed on Serenity deck, had lunch, several options, we weren't expecting 5 star dining at teh buffet so we were not disappointed at all. lines at the burner grill, so I had pot roast from the buffet, it was very good.
Formal night was fun every one dressed up but it was a wide range of dress
Day 3 was Breakfast in our room, delivered on time. In Nassau we did the Atlantis DAY pass that we bought direct at the Hotel. Took the Water taxi, we were first ones on board thinking we would get to Atlantis early ... NOT... water taxi did not leave till it was full, 30 minutes after we got on. Oh well. Atlantis was great ... we loved the Lazy river, with Rapids and the different paths you could take. We spent some time on the beach, walked around the "The Dig" and Aquarium. we did not see everything and it was time to get back to the ship. We thought it was worth it. Not sure we saved money buying direct from hotel after buying $24 lunch.
Day 4 Breakfast in our room again which gave us time to get ready.
Freeport we took the Jeep Excursion booked with Carnival. It was fun got to drive the Jeep on wrong side of the road, Tony was very good guide showing us around, lunch was included at a beautiful Botanical garden, 1 hour stop at a beach, great day.
Day 5 At Sea Day, Breakfast was buffet and omelettes station. Then we realized we had spent very little time around LIDO deck so we relaxed and watched the activities and contests.
The evenings after supper were spent going from Major show to Piano bar to comedians, to variety of music from other entertainers. It was alot of fun we were never lacking for something to do. The game shows were fun to watch and even participated in one.
We gambled some each evening and took several pictures offered with different backgrounds but only bought one.
We are definitely cruising next year and already looking to book.
