Embarkation at Limassol, Cyprus was late but hassle free. Compulsory muster at 9.30pm - just managed to finish Dinner in time. This cruise was round the Greek islands- Cyprus, Crete, Mainland, Mykanos, Kusadasi )Turkey), Rhodes, Cyprus. Our cabin was a no frills inside one very close to the lifts and stairs and very easy to get round the ship from. Food was delicious, especially in the Compass Rose and we had different dining companions every night which we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast and lunch was mainly in the buffet and although there was the odd time when it was very busy and difficult to find a table those times were rare . Worst day was the last one as the Compass Rose was closed for lunch. It was a really lovely cruise in terms of service, food, friendliness, chill factor and entertainment. The whole crew work very hard to make sure you are happy and relaxed. There were plenty of sunbeds to go round although some days were a little too breezy to go on them. The on board shows were very good and there were some excellent singers and dancers but it did become a little predictable as the week wore on. Our favourite evening haunt after the shows was the Horizons bar on deck 9 with New Dimensions who will play requests. We didn't go in High Spirits so can't comment. Raffles was a good late afternoon haunt for happy hour. This was our second cruise with Thomson - first one was on the Destiny last year. This was even better. Yes there is a vibration and it can be a little noisy but these are minor problems. Everyone I spoke to felt the same way- a lovely relaxed and friendly cruise.

Cabin review:

Port and Shore Excursions

Heraklion - Short walk from the ship to the port gates and then into the town. We walked along the front to Koules Fort and then into the town. Wonderful walls and arches. Interesting churches and some very good shops and cafes here. We went on the City Sight seeing bus which was a big mistake as there were not many sights outside of the main town. The traffic was horrendous and there didn't appear to be any rules for pedestrians, scooters or cars. Luckily our driver was very careful and considerate. The bus takes you past Knossos and you can get off to have a look round and then catch a bus back later- the service was pretty frequent and well sign posted.
Unless you want to be completely hassled by all the shopkeepers then don't bother getting off. The town is mainly shops with "genuine fake" products and they are all the same. The shopkeepers shout to you constantly. Most people I spoke to would happily have missed this port out. The main reason for the ship stopping here was Ephesus but we had already seen it.

The port is a few Kms outside Limassol so there was a very convenient bus service- number 30 just in the port with loads of directions to it. This takes you into the centre for 1 euro. The centre has lots of tourist and ordinary shops and a lovely seafront/promenade although it was being redesigned while we were there. Spent a couple of hours there before returning to the ship as it was our last day.
This is a fantastic little place. The ship does a shuttle to the car park just outside the town which is pedestrianised ( I don't think the locals know this!) What with the lovely white houses, bright paintwork, windmills and pelicans it really is a little treat. We hired a scooter and went for a trip round for a couple of hours. Traffic isn't too bad but the main problem was that the scooter had a small engine and I had to get off the back when we went up hills - not very romantic! However it was a good little adventure and makes us smile!

Rhodes town - Another little treat of a place. Absolutely fabulous and a shame we only had a half day here. The castle and medieval town were beautiful. The place just oozed history. The marina and sea front were also fabulous. A very special place and worth going back to.
