Very nice Caribbean cruise

Sail Date: April 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

We were on the April 6 cruise from Miami.

Embarkation was easy. We were emailed ahead of time to wait till 12:30 or so to get to the terminal due to Customs delays in getting the ship cleared. We get there a little before then but got on quickly.

The ship is really beautiful, and still new. We've been on the Solstice, Equinox and Silhouette so we're fans of the S Class ships. We had our first lunch at The Porch to skip some of the rush at the Oceanview Cafe. It's a nice spot and was quiet with a nice view of the city.

We had an Aqua Class cabin, #1547. It's got a larger than average balcony that is deep and has a large overhang. Celebrity calls it partially obstructed, but we really enjoyed it. The overhang kept it shady in port and the depth kept it from being too windy while underway. We used the balcony more on this cruise than any other so far. The cabin was good, although there were intermittent plumbing noises in the bathroom ceiling from the deck above. More Our cabin stewards were good, and if we left notes for extra pillows or a cheese plate instead of canapes, our requests were promptly taken care of. Room service breakfast was really good, too.

We selected Aqua Class because we really love dining in Blu. This cruise was no exception. Service was a little off the first night, so we asked for a new table the second night. Then we met our new waiter who we'd had two years ago on the Equinox. Mansur recognized us first, which is pretty remarkable! Our wine sommelier was Carlos and our assistant waiter was Darya. All did a really nice job. The Ma'tre D' and his assistant seemed to run a talented but relaxed crew. The meals are great, with the braised ribs being the highlight, although the chilled lobster salad with caviar and tortilla soup are also excellent. Not to mention the cherry brandy and praline ice creams and the vanilla crème brulee!

We also liked the new layout at the Sunset Bar. It was nice day or night. The Molecular Bar is fun and was much more popular on this ship than we've seen on others. The blackjack dealers were friendly, if not generous!

We went to the Oceanview several times for lunch. We really like the selection and the layout of various stations is very user-friendly.

The ports are fine, but for us this cruise is about relaxing and enjoying the ship.

Overall, we give this cruise 4 stars. Why not more? A few reasons.

There was a lot of pushing of various wine tastings that got a little much. The menu in Blu is really good, but the last night's selection was weak (we ended up getting selections off the "standard" list), there were some billing errors that took three visits to Guest Relations to correct, and the previously mentioned noise in the bathroom.
