Spring Break aboard the Epic Rocks!

Sail Date: March 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

I cruised with my family over spring break on the Epic and we all absolutely loved it! We booked 2 mini-suites with 3 in one cabin and 2 in the next door cabin. The cabins were plenty big enough ... tons of storage space. The 'bathroom' was a joke with the frosted glass doors giving no privacy. We quickly got used to it.

The ship was fabulous - water slides, rocking climbing wall, gym, lots of outdoor space, etc.

I paid $140 for use of the spa facilities. Unfortunately, the spa was overbooked and every time I went there, I could not find a spot. Did not get to use the saunas, stone benches, private balcony, nothing ... very disappointing.

The room stewards were very attentive and friendly. Our cabin was always spotless with lots of clean towels.

We went to the Cirque Dinner Theater and thoroughly enjoyed the show. The food was definitely not worth $39.99 / person ... it was actually pretty gross. We dined at the Brazilian Steak House which More was just amazing. The food and service were outstanding. We also had dinner one evening at the Teppanyaki Steak House. Too many people in too small a space. It got very loud and we could not even hear our chef ... very disappointing. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the buffet ... every meal was fresh and through out the week new stations popped up giving lots of choices at every meal. Several nights we hit the buffet late to get a crepe stuffed with anything you wanted ... nutella and bananas was the favorite. The main dining salon will not allow anyone in shorts .. big surprise. The boys (all teenagers) could not eat dinner there dressed in Bermuda shorts and collared shirts. One evening the boys hit the buffet and we went to the main dining room expecting a very fancy meal. We were very disappointed (actually pissed) to see men in blue jeans with t-shirts (no collars) being served. Please explain how that is appropriate attire. We did take the boys to Taste and we all loved it. The food and service were both excellent. We also attended the murder luncheon. The food was actually good.

The first night on board we saw Blue Man Group ... amazing!! We also attended the comedy show, Legends in concert - the Jimmy Buffet and Michael Jackson impersonators were great.

At every destination, the Epic crew went above and beyond to welcome us back on board with cold drinks, damp towels, lively music and dancing.

Every other aspect of the cruise was outstanding - ship, crew, food, entertainment, destinations.

Can't wait to cruise again on the Epic! Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Epic 9088

9086 & 9088: Great balcony, very convenient location - near elevators and stairs. Surprisingly very quiet for the location.

Port and Shore Excursions

Went scuba diving in St. Maarten. Seas were very rough and we had to forget the 2nd dive. In the afternoon we took a water taxi to the downtown area and did some shopping. The kids enjoyed finding bargains.

Red Hook Dive Center took us on a 2 tank morning dive. Best diving experience ever!! The crew were very helpful and knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. Diving in St. Thomas is the best ... the coral reefs are beautiful, mesmerizing. Red Hook took great care of us. We will definitely go back to St. Thomas and dive with them again.
